Rod Lewis was appointed to the State Board of Education in March 2000 and was elected to serve as Secretary in April of 2002. He chaired the Board’s Instruction, Research and Student Affairs Committee for three years. Lewis is employed as Vice President of Legal Affairs, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Micron Technology, Inc. of Boise. He is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law in New York and Brigham Young University, where he received his undergraduate degree in Economics and Asian Studies.

Laird Stone

Laird Stone was appointed to the Board in December 2001. He is a partner in the law firm Stephan, Kvanvig, Stone and Trainor in Twin Falls. Stone is a Gooding native who graduated from Gooding High School and earned his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Idaho. He continued his education at the Advocacy College of the Hasting College of Law in San Francisco and the National Association of Criminal Defense Trial College in Houston.

Milford Terrell

Milford Terrell was appointed to the Board in January 2003. He is currently the President and owner of DeBest Plumbing & Mechanical. He served two years in the Vietnam conflict as a medical technician, receiving a Good Conduct Medal and a Presidential Citation for service above and beyond the call of duty. Terrell did his plumbing apprenticeship through the Vocational-Technical educational program at Boise State College. He is the former President of the Bronco Athletic Association and current Chairman of the Humanitarian Bowl and he is the first BSU alumni member to be appointed to the State Board of Education since the 1980s.

Paul C. Agidius

Paul Agidius, appointed to the Board in May 2001, has a private law practice in Moscow. He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Idaho.

Blake Hall
Idaho Falls

Blake Hall, appointed to the Board in September 2000, is a partner in the law firm of Anderson Nelson Hall Smith in Idaho Falls. Mr. Hall received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Brigham Young University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He received his Juris Doctor degree from George Washington University National Law Center. He has served in a number of state and national leadership positions with the Republican Party and is Chairman of the Regional Development Alliance.

Dr. Marilyn Howard

Dr. Howard was elected State Superintendent of Public Instruction in the November 1998 election, and was reelected in November 2002. She sits as an ex-officio voting member of the Board. Howard earned her undergraduate and master’s degree from the University of Idaho and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instructional Science from Brigham Young University.

Karen McGee
Pocatello
Term Expires: 3/1/09

Karen McGee, first appointed to the Board in March 1999, is an audiologist by profession. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology/Audiology and a master’s in Speech Pathology from Idaho State University. She currently chairs the Governor’s Workforce Development Council and formerly chaired the Governor’s Welfare Reform Committee. McGee was a member of the Pocatello City Council for 14 years.

Sue Thilo
Coeur d’ Alene
Term Expires 3/1/09

Sue Thilo currently serves on the Board of the Idaho Youth Ranch, TESH, Inc – a non-profit organization in Coeur d’Alene, which provides programs and services that offer independent living opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and the North Idaho College Foundation. She has been active in many ways with School District 271, including her service on the Board of the Excel Foundation that offers grants to public schools. She has also been involved with Rotary, the CDA Area Chamber of Commerce, Junior Achievement and the United Way. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Iowa State University.
